It's almost a year since this video was published. And we probably can find these cars below 35k price point.
One of the things I hate about buying cars is the hefty sales tax you pay that never makes back (unless you totalled your car and insurance would pay for the market price plus tax.) But, 3.5k tax is better than 7k tax. Which of said car would you plunge 35k for?
Cars were discussed (feel free to help me refine the list as I "listen" to it while playing with my daughter.)
Z06
996 C2S
E90 M3
W211 AMG Wagon
CTS-V Sedan/Wagon
RS4
Cayman S/R
MASERATI QUATTROPORTE (2007 and onward)
I personally would love M3 (sedan), AMG wagon, CTS-V wagon, RS4. I have a thing for quattroporte but probably not the old ones, and my family situation don't quite allow me to indulge on coupe yet. Funny thing is I can't find these cars for 35k on CarMax, of which if the warranty isn't over 5k, I probably would do it.

The M3 is definitely out there sub 35k, because I saw a handful of them when I was looking for my E92 in November.

Did you get one? How do you like it so far? I have a friend that got a E92 M3 last year. But I haven't had a chance to chat with him on maintenance cost yet.

I have one. It's the most reliable car I own. I currently only pay for oil changes (as BMW only does the for every 15k for a car under warranty). Not a hiccup, nothing, car hasn't had an issue. Maintance isn't bad either, oil changes are $130 if you diy, but other than that it isn't bad. Honestly the only worry is for pre 2011 cars had rod bearing issues. If you change them ($1500 installed), you have a really reliable car. I wouldn't recommend an extended warranty on it unless you can get one until 100k miles for less then 2,500.

Thanks for that. I take yours is a 2011? I am not sure if the oil extractor for my e46 still apply I am comfortable DIY changing oils using that. That's cool to hear you don't recommend warranty, since my friend got a one year warranty on his 2008 E92 M3, which sounded like no more than peice of mind from your post.

Mines a '12. No dipstick so you have to go underneath, but it's atcually pretty easy to do an oil change without one. This is one of the few cars that I'm going to drive till it dies then rebuild it as it's so much of a joy. But it hasn't given me an issue and I beat on her every time I drive her. 10/10 would buy again.

I got a 335i X-drive instead. I just couldn't justify using the M3 as my winter car. They're fantastic though, not a day goes by that I don't regret going with the M3. The 335 is much more practical for my application though.
